As interim chief communications officer, Brian leads Strada’s strategic communications team in developing and producing the resources and engagement activities that advance Strada’s mission to support the programs, policies, and organizations that strengthen connections between postsecondary education and opportunity in the U.S.
Since joining Strada in 2019, Brian has served in several key leadership capacities, including senior content director, senior advisor for strategic communications, and a previous tenure as interim head of communications, during which he modernized the organization’s crisis communications framework and led the communications strategy supporting the Strada HBCU Leadership Summit. As senior advisor, he guided the foundation’s comprehensive brand refresh and led the strategic communications team's operations and strategic planning functions.
Before his tenure at Strada, Brian spent nearly a decade at the National Collegiate Athletic Association, where he served as director of strategic communications and executive editor of the award-winning Champion Magazine. His career began in journalism, where he covered college sports and the NBA for Sports Illustrated, SI.com, and multiple newspapers. He also spent more than 10 years as an adjunct lecturer at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, teaching sports journalism, crisis management, and strategic storytelling.
Hendrickson holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from IUPUI and a Master of Sports Journalism from Indiana University.
